Mission Tumacácori

I was able to again get to the Fiesta de Tumacácori which is held every year the first full weekend of December.  The mission is located about an hour south of Tucson, Arizona on US 19.  I went once several years ago and got some very nice photos.  There are lots of activities going on for the two days.  On Sunday there is a mass with some riders re enacting the ride of the soldiers to Tubac mission.  There are also guided tours around the grounds and those are about an hour or so in length.  If you are a photographer like me then this is a great place to be for the better part of the day.  Not only can you visit the Mission Ruin but you can visit also the out buildings and check out some info at the Ranger office as this is a Historic Park Location.  People turn up for this event in period costumes and there is much entertainment in the form of Indian Dancers, Folklorico Dancers, music and this year I enjoyed the performance of La Familia Balderrama Dancing Horses from Rio Rico, Arizona.  Several different breeds of horses were used in the presentation.  Taking photos of the horses gets a little challenging if you are, like I was, in the wrong position.  I was shooting into the sun so the dust kicked up by the horses was a bit tricky.

If you would like further info about the mission or the Fiesta then here is a link
